The 2026-2027 ratings mark the first time U.S. News has consolidated data for both public and private entities into a single release. To qualify, private firms were required to maintain at least 1,000 employees and generate over $500 million in annual revenue, while public companies were selected from the largest firms by market capitalization. Each organization underwent a rigorous screening process, requiring a minimum of 75 Glassdoor reviews submitted between 2021 and 2025.

Carly Chase, vice president of Careers at U.S. News, noted that the criteria for a high-performing workplace are shifting alongside workforce demographics. The methodology incorporates employee sentiment data and regulatory enforcement records provided by partners including Revelio Labs, ZoomInfo, and Good Jobs First. Beyond standard rankings, the report highlights specialized categories for internship programs and support for family caregivers, aiming to provide clarity for graduates and professionals navigating a turbulent economic landscape.
