With over six million elevators currently in service across Europe, the industry faces a significant challenge: more than half of these units have exceeded 25 years of operation. Building managers typically begin evaluating modernization once equipment hits the 15 to 20-year mark, making the rollout of these digital-native solutions a timely intervention for property owners looking to extend asset lifespan.

The Gen3 platform integrates the Otis ONE IoT digital suite, providing predictive maintenance and remote health monitoring. Beyond basic mechanical upgrades, the system introduces energy-efficient ReGen drives and eView display panels, which function as both passenger information hubs and emergency communication links. Thibault Lefébure, President of Otis EMEA, noted that the modular nature of these packages allows clients to align upgrades with their specific investment strategies and building requirements.

Customers can choose from three distinct tiers: the Plus package for core component updates, the Pro option for full interior car refreshments, and a Full Replacement service for complete hoistway modernization. By facilitating the shift from traditional ropes to coated steel belts, the system aims to reduce noise and vibration while improving floor-leveling accuracy. Furthermore, these upgrades are compatible with the company's Viva solutions, designed specifically to assist aging populations by improving accessibility and operational ease within residential and commercial structures.
