Pew Charitable Trusts Awards $320,000 to Latin American Researchers

The recipients, all of whom established their own research programs within the last five years, represent institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay. Supported by Biohub, the initiative serves as a secondary launchpad for scientists who completed postdoctoral training in the United States and subsequently returned home to strengthen local scientific communities.

"Pew Latin American fellows are among the best and brightest biomedical scientists in the region," said Donna Frisby-Greenwood, Pew's senior vice president for scientific advancement. According to the organization, nearly 70% of program participants eventually return to their home countries to lead their own labs. This latest round of funding targets established researchers such as Rodrigo A. Aguilar, Daiana A. Capdevila, and Paulo José P. L. Teixeira, among others, ensuring their independent work continues to contribute to the global biomedical landscape.
