UBTECH Unveils UWORLD U1, Targeting Mass-Market Humanoid Robotics

The U1 series arrives in three configurations—the semi-torso U1 Lite, the full-body U1 Pro, and the high-dynamic U1 Ultra—with entry-level pricing starting at 119,800 RMB. UBTECH CEO James Zhou framed the release as a critical milestone in the company’s two-decade roadmap, marking a transition from research laboratories to everyday human-robot symbiosis. The hardware features 88 degrees of freedom and a proprietary dual-pivot cervical spine, allowing the machines to replicate roughly 90% of human movement.

Beyond mechanical agility, the robots are powered by an emotion-aware large language model capable of identifying over 20 distinct emotional states. Michael Tam, who leads the UWORLD division, emphasized that the technology is intended to address growing mental health challenges in China, where millions of seniors and adults reside in isolation. To support this, the company launched an initiative to donate 100 customized robots annually, utilizing 3D facial and voice reconstruction to offer structured psychological support to vulnerable populations.

Privacy remains a core design pillar, with UBTECH implementing a three-layer security architecture that prioritizes local data processing to minimize cloud dependency. As the industrial Walker S series continues to fuel the company's manufacturing growth, UWORLD is positioned as the primary engine for consumer adoption, aiming to bridge the gap between functional service robots and emotionally responsive companions.
