MDT Launches TMR3111D Magnetic Encoder for High-Speed Robotics
Targeting the high-dynamic demands of humanoid and quadruped robotics, Zhangjiagang-based MultiDimension Technology has unveiled the TMR3111D rotary encoder IC. The sensor leverages tunneling magnetoresistance technology to achieve high-speed operation up to 40,000 rpm while offering the mechanical flexibility of both on-axis and off-axis positioning.

The TMR3111D integrates advanced digital signal processing with MDT's proprietary sensing technology to outperform conventional Hall-effect solutions. By providing a higher signal-to-noise ratio and increased tolerance to mechanical variations, the device ensures consistent performance in precision motion control systems. The inclusion of automatic gain compensation and nonlinear calibration further assists in mitigating installation-induced errors, streamlining the assembly process for manufacturers.
Technical specifications for the 3x3x0.75mm DFN10L package include 23-bit internal data format for SPI absolute output and programmable ABZ incremental outputs reaching 4,096 pulses-per-revolution. The device operates across a 3V to 5V range and supports PWM and UVW commutation, making it a versatile component for servo drives and industrial robotic joints. MDT plans to showcase the new encoder alongside its broader magnetic sensor portfolio at Electronica Shanghai 2026.
