Traci Stumpf to Lead Preeclampsia Foundation’s Promise Walk Wherever

“I was 33 years old, healthy, and had what every doctor described as a textbook pregnancy. But when I went into labor with my daughter, Lois, everything changed,” says Emmy award-winning host Traci Stumpf. Now a maternal health advocate, she is returning to chair the seventh annual Promise Walk Wherever this October.

Stumpf’s commitment to the Preeclampsia Foundation stems from her own brush with death. Following the birth of her daughter, she was rushed to a maternal intensive care unit with postpartum preeclampsia, a condition that quickly escalated into the life-threatening HELLP syndrome. Her experience, which she describes as traumatic and isolating, drives her current advocacy work. She now leverages her background in broadcasting—spanning networks like E!, MTV, and CBS—to amplify awareness for a condition that affects up to 8% of pregnancies in the United States.

Scheduled for October 17, 2026, the Promise Walk Wherever serves as a vital community hub for families navigating the aftermath of hypertensive pregnancy disorders. Preeclampsia Foundation CEO Eleni Z. Tsigas emphasizes that the event provides essential education and emotional support for survivors and their partners. With HELLP syndrome carrying a 25% risk of severe illness or death, the organization focuses on accelerating research and early diagnosis. Supporters are invited to join Stumpf’s team, "Hope after HELLP," or register independently to fund the foundation’s ongoing mission.
