MGI Tech Expands European Spatial Biology Footprint at STOC 2026
Gathered at the STOC General Meeting 2026 in Milan, MGI Tech unveiled its automated Go Spatial workflow for the European market while simultaneously appointing Berlin-based Omics Empower GmbH as a certified service provider to bolster regional access to high-resolution spatial transcriptomics and complex tissue analysis.
The Go Spatial platform leverages MGI’s proprietary Stereo-seq technology to streamline post-imaging sample preparation. By automating the transition from RNA capture to cDNA, the system minimizes manual intervention for both fresh frozen and FFPE samples. It is capable of processing up to 12 cm² of fresh frozen tissue or 8 cm² of FFPE tissue daily, targeting applications in oncology, neuroscience, and immunology.
At the conference, MGI also introduced StereoLink and the Stereo-seq OMNI Large Chip Design. These tools are engineered to refine tissue transfer processes and enable the profiling of larger, more complex tissue samples. According to Fang Chen, Vice President of MGI and General Manager for Europe and Africa, these additions are intended to strengthen the technological infrastructure available to the local research community.
The partnership with Omics Empower GmbH focuses on localized service delivery, particularly for the Stereo-seq OMNI V1.1 platform. By establishing a service hub in Berlin, the companies aim to reduce turnaround times for researchers across Europe. Yang Liu, Managing Director of Omics Empower, stated that the collaboration combines MGI’s hardware with their existing multi-omics expertise to provide more direct support for translational research projects.
