Nearly 100,000 donors have pushed the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s “This Moment” fundraising campaign past its $200 million target, reaching a final total of $250 million. The five-year effort stands as the largest financial initiative in the hospital’s history, aimed at bolstering pediatric research and clinical infrastructure.

The capital raised will support a broad range of medical advancements, including the development of the new Heart Institute, which features specialized technology and patient-centered design. Beyond physical infrastructure, the funds are earmarked for pediatric research, expanded clinical services across the region, and community-based health initiatives intended to mitigate care disparities.

Rachel Petrucelli, president of the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation, noted that the influx of support reflects the commitment of both the Pittsburgh community and families who travel to the city for specialized medical intervention. For many, the impact of these contributions is personal; Andrea Misencik, a parent of a former patient, emphasized that the campaign provides a sense of purpose for families navigating the challenges of long-term pediatric care. Greg Williams, CEO of corporate partner Acrisure, cited the hospital's role as a regional beacon for clinical innovation as the primary driver for their organization's involvement in the project.
