Reality Defender Named Market Shaper in Gartner Deepfake Detection Report
Five years ago, deepfake detection was a niche concern; today, it is a critical enterprise priority. Reality Defender has been designated a Market Shaper in the June 2026 Gartner Emerging Market Quadrant for Deepfake Detection, marking a rapid industry shift toward securing systems against synthetic voice, video, and image attacks.
The recognition follows a May 2026 Gartner research note identifying the firm as a primary competitor in the space. As generative AI lowers the barrier to creating realistic impersonations, organizations face increasing risks, ranging from fraudulent contact center interactions to executive impersonation during unauthorized financial transfers. Reality Defender, founded in 2021, provides a multimodal detection platform currently deployed across financial services and identity verification sectors.
Ben Colman, co-founder and CEO, noted that the inclusion of this category in Gartner’s reporting highlights the transition of deepfakes from an emerging curiosity to a mainstream threat. The company, which won the RSA Conference Innovation Sandbox in 2024, continues to integrate its detection tools directly into existing enterprise workflows to identify synthetic content in real time. Industry partners, including ElevenLabs, have cited this recognition as evidence of the growing necessity for robust, automated verification systems in an era of sophisticated generative deception.
