Adaptive Sound Technologies Brings Non-Looping Sleep Audio to Mobile
Campbell-based Adaptive Sound Technologies has launched Sleep Only, a mobile application designed to provide distraction-free, non-looping ambient audio. By migrating the proprietary technology found in its LectroFan and Sound+Sleep hardware to smartphones, the company aims to offer a portable, privacy-focused solution for users struggling with sleep quality.
The app eliminates the common issue of repeating audio cycles by generating sounds directly on the user's device. Because the audio is not streamed, the application functions entirely offline, a design choice intended to ensure user privacy and remove the need for constant connectivity. Development partner Orangesoft focused on stripping away common mobile app distractions, resulting in a platform that eschews ads and data tracking in favor of a dedicated sleep-focused interface.
According to ASTI President and CEO Sam Nicolino, the shift toward a software-based model responds to rising hardware manufacturing costs and tariff pressures, allowing the company to leverage existing audio engineering investments. The application has earned the SleepMark designation, aligning with National Sleep Foundation recommendations after independent validation by SleepScore Labs. Users can access a library ranging from standard white noise and fan sounds to high-fidelity nature recordings and lullabies, with the Premium tier incorporating patented Adaptive Sound Technology that adjusts volume levels based on ambient room changes.
