Harvard’s Joseph T. Coyle Joins Spinogenix Advisory Board

Joseph T. Coyle, the Eben S. Draper Chair of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School, has joined the scientific advisory board of Spinogenix. His appointment arrives as the company accelerates the clinical development of tazbentetol, a therapeutic candidate targeting synaptic restoration for patients living with schizophrenia and neurodegenerative conditions.

Spinogenix CEO Stella Sarraf stated that Coyle’s expertise in EEG biomarkers and his history of translating complex neuroscience into clinical applications will be central to the company’s ongoing programs. Coyle, who has spent over four decades researching developmental neurobiology and glutamatergic signaling, will provide strategic guidance specifically aimed at refining the firm's approach to schizophrenia.

With more than 500 scientific publications and 87,000 citations to his name, Coyle brings a deep history of leadership to the biotech firm. His background includes serving as president of both the Society for Neuroscience and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, alongside over three decades of continuous National Institutes of Health funding. He joins a company focused on developing first-in-class synaptic regenerative therapies, including tazbentetol and SPG601, which are currently being evaluated for conditions ranging from ALS and Alzheimer’s to Fragile X Syndrome.
