Danone USA reports $9.6 billion contribution to American economy
Danone USA pumped $9.6 billion into the American economy in 2025, according to a new report from John Dunham & Associates. The study highlights how the food giant’s domestic manufacturing and sourcing network acts as an engine for job creation across farming, logistics, and production sectors nationwide.
The company, which operates more than 10 manufacturing facilities and employs 5,000 workers, credits its economic footprint to a focus on domestic supply chains. Danone currently sources approximately 90% of its ingredients within the U.S., including 200 million gallons of milk purchased from farms in states such as Kansas, Utah, Idaho, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. For every direct job at Danone, the company estimates it supports nearly three additional roles among suppliers and transportation networks, bringing the total impact to roughly 22,000 jobs.
Dan Magliocco, president of Danone USA, emphasized that the company’s business model is designed to create a ripple effect in local communities. Beyond raw volume, the firm is funneling capital into regenerative agriculture and nutrition science. By expanding its high-protein OIKOS portfolio and investing in soil health initiatives, the company aims to balance commercial growth with long-term agricultural resilience. Sixth-generation farmer Mitch Schwieterman noted that the partnership has been essential for scaling regenerative practices that would otherwise be difficult to sustain independently.
