BAE Systems Arms U.S. Military Units with Cold-Weather Vehicles

The rollout is part of a larger procurement initiative targeting a fleet of 487 vehicles. Beyond Vermont, the hardware is heading to the 11th Airborne Division and the Arctic Region Test Center in Alaska. These platforms are designed to handle deep snow and rugged terrain, bridging a critical gap in mobility for troops stationed in high-latitude zones. To ensure operational readiness, BAE Systems is pairing the delivery with comprehensive maintenance and handling training for military personnel.

Dean Medland, vice president of sustainment for Combat Mission Systems, noted that these vehicles serve as a force multiplier for units operating in harsh climates. With 58 vehicles now in the field, the production schedule remains active as BAE Systems works toward fulfilling an additional 97 units currently on order. The program spans multiple strategic locations, including Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and Fort Wainwright, reinforcing the military's push to secure year-round operational capacity in the Arctic and beyond.
