Control Devices Absorbs Solenoid Solutions to Broaden Flow Control Reach
St. Louis-based Control Devices has finalized its acquisition of Erie-based Solenoid Solutions, a move designed to integrate specialized solenoid valve technology into the buyer’s existing engineered flow control portfolio. The transaction, backed by parent company HBM Holdings, aims to combine manufacturing footprints and broaden market access.

The deal brings Solenoid Solutions’ specialized 2-way, 3-way, and proportional solenoid valves under the Control Devices umbrella. By folding these design and manufacturing capabilities into its current operations, the company intends to supply more integrated, system-critical components to its existing customer base. Jim Norris, President and CEO of Control Devices, noted that the acquisition aligns with a long-term growth strategy to expand the firm’s product and brand portfolio.
Control Devices plans to leverage its established commercial infrastructure to push Solenoid Solutions’ products into new sectors, including medical instrumentation, food service appliances, and industrial cooling systems. The acquisition creates a vertical integration opportunity that bridges the gap between the two companies' technical expertise. While the financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the move solidifies Control Devices' standing as a primary manufacturer in the compressed gas, air, and liquid control markets.
