ASUR Reports June Passenger Traffic Decline Across Key Markets
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste saw a 5.8% drop in total passenger traffic across its network in June 2026, with the company handling 5.6 million passengers compared to the same period last year. The results reflect a widespread cooling in travel demand across its operations in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Colombia.

Mexico, the company’s largest operational hub, experienced the sharpest downturn with an 8.5% decline in passenger volume. Domestic traffic in the country fell by 4.7%, while international travel saw a more pronounced 12.1% reduction. Cancun International Airport, the group’s primary tourist gateway, mirrored this trend with an 11.5% decrease in total traffic for the month.
Operations in Puerto Rico and Colombia also failed to escape the downward pressure. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan recorded a 4.6% decrease in total traffic, driven by a 4.9% dip in domestic travelers. Colombia saw a more modest overall decline of 1.1%, though international traffic at the Rionegro airport in Medellin dropped 3.8%. These figures, covering the period from June 1 to June 30, indicate a challenging start to the mid-year travel season for the airport operator.
