Nothing Launches Ear 3A With Integrated Audio Recording

Priced at $99, the new Nothing Ear 3A wireless earbuds break from industry trends by maintaining an accessible price point while introducing local storage for audio capture. Users can now record ongoing playback directly through the hardware, bypassing the need for phone-based recording software during active listening sessions.

The Ear 3A differentiates itself through a feature dubbed Audio Snapshot, which utilizes 32MB of onboard memory integrated into the earbuds. By pinching both units simultaneously, users trigger the device to capture current audio alongside a brief preroll buffer, ensuring no segment of a track or conversation is lost. These clips sync automatically to the Nothing X mobile application, providing tools for editing, transcription, and sharing.

While the earbuds share a price tag with the existing Ear (a), they function as a distinct hardware step for the company. The included charging case provides up to 42 hours of total playback, or 25 hours with active noise cancellation enabled. Available in black, white, and yellow, the Ear 3A represent a hardware-first approach to audio memos and call recording, shifting the processing burden from the smartphone to the wearable device itself.
