PNC Launches Modernized Mobile Banking App to Boost Personalization

The app allows users to reorganize account views and select display preferences, including dark mode and language settings. By integrating these features, the bank aims to replace its legacy interface with a cleaner, more intuitive layout built on a foundation of microservices and agentic software development. This architecture is designed to support future generative AI capabilities, such as proactive financial insights and enhanced self-service tools.

Alex Overstrom, head of Retail Banking, noted that the platform focuses on giving clients control over how they manage their money. The bank plans to have all retail users migrated to the new experience by the end of summer. This transition follows a period of growth for the institution, which currently serves 8 million mobile clients and is simultaneously expanding its physical footprint with more than 300 new branches nationwide. To ensure stability during the update, PNC has equipped its customer care teams and branch staff to assist users, while in-app tutorials guide clients through the new features.
