Google Search Console adds cross-platform tracking for creators

Content creators can now monitor how users find their external social media profiles through Google Search. A new feature within Search Console, dubbed platform properties, allows owners to track specific search terms that drive traffic to Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content, bridging the gap between independent sites and social platforms.

This update marks a significant expansion of Google's strategy to position its search engine as a central hub for digital creators. By allowing users to link external profiles directly to Search, Google aims to provide a consolidated view of audience engagement across diverse content formats. Previously, creators without personal websites struggled to access granular data on how their social presence performed in organic search results.

The feature functions by aggregating interaction data, helping publishers understand which search queries lead to their pinned videos or profile links. This follows a June rollout that enabled prominent creators to claim dedicated search profiles, highlighting Google’s intent to prioritize first-hand perspectives in its results. The platform properties tool is currently rolling out to users globally and will become fully available over the coming weeks.
