Tamarack Resort Named Top Destination in the American West
Travel + Leisure readers have crowned Idaho’s Tamarack Resort as the No. 1 destination in the West for 2026. This distinction, awarded through the publication’s annual World’s Best Awards, highlights the property’s evolution into a premier year-round mountain retreat for skiers, golfers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The accolade follows a period of aggressive infrastructure expansion at the Donnelly-based resort. Recent upgrades include the restoration of the Osprey Meadows Golf Course, the launch of a 100-slip marina on Lake Cascade, and the continued development of the resort’s alpine-style village. These investments have successfully bolstered Tamarack’s standing, which already includes accolades from Golfweek and The Wall Street Journal.
Scott Turlington, President of Tamarack Resort, attributed the win to the consistency of the guest experience across all four seasons. The resort, located 90 miles north of Boise, distinguishes itself as one of the few locations in North America offering a combination of skiing, golf, and lake-based recreation on its 4,400-acre property. For the resort’s leadership, the ranking serves as validation of a strategy focused on elevating hospitality, dining, and mountain amenities to compete with the most established destinations in the United States.
