Las Vegas Pitches Bioscience Growth at BIO International Convention
During the four-day BIO International Convention in San Diego, the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance led a coalition of regional partners to rebrand Southern Nevada as a burgeoning hub for biotechnology. The initiative aimed to shift perceptions among global investors, highlighting a local ecosystem that extends well beyond tourism.

The Nevada Pavilion served as the primary base of operations for a delegation including the UNLV Office of Technology Transfer, Roseman Bioventures, and the Governor's Office of Economic Development. Throughout the event, the team facilitated 75 targeted business meetings and fielded inquiries from over 400 industry representatives. For many attendees, the region’s research capabilities and infrastructure appeared as a surprise, a disconnect that LVGEA President and CEO Danielle Casey noted was a recurring theme during networking sessions.
This push for industrial diversification is anchored in the LVGEA’s current three-year strategic plan, which identifies life sciences as a pillar for long-term economic stability. By highlighting a growing talent pipeline and a business-friendly regulatory environment, the city of Las Vegas hopes to attract high-wage employers to anchor the sector. Officials from the city emphasized that the conference was not merely a networking exercise, but a necessary step toward integrating Southern Nevada into the global R&D and manufacturing supply chain for life-changing therapies.
