Valstone Scales Logistics Tech Portfolio With Nascent Acquisition
Charlotte-based Nascent Technology has been acquired by Valstone, marking the firm's fourth expansion into the industrial transportation sector. The deal brings established terminal automation software, including SYNAPSE AGS and Orca, under a growing platform designed to consolidate fragmented supply chain technologies across North American freight networks.

Founded in 1996, Nascent provides critical software for railroads, ports, and intermodal terminals. By integrating this portfolio into its existing industrial transportation group—which already includes PS Technology, GeoMetrix Rail Logistics, and GTMaritime—Valstone aims to centralize mission-critical workflows. The acquisition from Firmament aligns with Valstone's strategy of building a permanent, decentralized operating model backed by Viking Global Investors.
Stephane Manos, Founder and President of Valstone, highlighted the firm's focus on established, mission-critical assets that possess deep customer trust. While Nascent’s day-to-day operations remain unchanged, the company will now leverage Valstone’s resources to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence and automation into its existing product lines. Daniel Malouf, Head of M&A at Valstone, noted that the move is part of a broader effort to unify the historically fragmented software market serving industrial shippers and maritime fleets.
