AerCap to Supply China Southern with Three Converted Boeing 777 Freighters
AerCap Holdings has finalized lease agreements to supply China Southern Air Logistics with three Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters. Known as "The Big Twin," these aircraft represent the first passenger-to-freighter conversion program for the 777-300ER, designed to bolster the carrier's intercontinental cargo capacity starting in late 2027.

The delivery schedule begins in October 2027, with the remaining two aircraft slated to arrive in the first and second quarters of 2028. These units will integrate into China Southern's existing fleet of 777 freighters, utilizing the GE90 engine platform to maintain operational consistency across their long-haul network.
Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, noted that the deal reaffirms the company's long-standing relationship with the Chinese carrier. For China Southern, the acquisition aligns with a broader strategy to expand its international reach and strengthen its dual-hub operations in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Li Xiao, Chairman of CSA Logistics, described the agreement as a milestone in the airline's fleet evolution, intended to support the demand for efficient, high-payload global air freight services.
