Thomas Kiessling Takes Helm at PassiveLogic to Scale Physical AI
Salt Lake City-based PassiveLogic has appointed former Siemens Smart Infrastructure CTO Thomas Kiessling as its new CEO. The move signals an aggressive push to shift building automation from legacy control systems to autonomous, physics-based AI capable of managing energy consumption across commercial and industrial infrastructure on a global scale.
Commercial and industrial buildings currently account for nearly 40% of global energy usage, yet fewer than 5% function as intelligent assets. These structures are frequently held back by outdated control architectures that require costly custom engineering and remain out of reach for much of the market. PassiveLogic aims to change this landscape by deploying its Quantum physics-based world model and Hive edge platform to enable buildings to optimize their own performance automatically.
Kiessling brings three decades of experience in industrial transformation, including his leadership in developing the Building X platform at Siemens and his role as a co-founder of AMPLY Power. His expertise in scaling complex technology is expected to push PassiveLogic beyond premium assets and into the broader commercial market. By replacing manual engineering with autonomous, self-managing systems, the company intends to lower deployment costs while simultaneously improving grid flexibility and occupant comfort.
