MSA Safety Finalizes $555 Million Acquisition of Autronica
Pittsburgh-based MSA Safety has officially closed its $555 million acquisition of Norwegian firm Autronica Fire and Security, marking a strategic push to capture a larger share of the global fire and gas detection market. The move integrates Autronica’s specialized safety technology into MSA’s broader industrial portfolio.
Autronica, headquartered in Trondheim, brings a robust portfolio of fire and gas detection systems to the partnership, having reported $160 million in sales for 2025. By absorbing the Norwegian company, MSA Safety intends to strengthen its footprint in the marine, energy, and critical infrastructure sectors. Steve Blanco, CEO of MSA Safety, noted that the acquisition allows the firm to tap into an addressable market estimated at over $3 billion.
To fund the transaction, MSA utilized a combination of existing cash reserves and its current credit facility. The company anticipates that the merger will be accretive to its adjusted earnings per share within the first full year of operation. This integration aligns with MSA’s broader "Accelerate" growth strategy, aiming to leverage Autronica’s expertise to enhance its integrated safety solutions on a global scale.
