Huntsville Firm BAILOR Backs Record-Breaking Veteran Suicide Awareness Run
A three-man crew will depart Huntsville on July 24, attempting to circumnavigate America’s Great Loop in under 13 days. The mission, titled Freedom Fighter, aims to combat veteran suicide, with local growth strategy firm BAILOR signing on as the founding partner to accelerate the campaign’s rapid launch.

The crew will pilot a restored former U.S. Coast Guard SAFE Boat Defender, aiming to eclipse the current Great Loop record of 12 days, 18 hours, and 10 minutes. For David Skrzecz, founder of Veterans Against Suicide, the voyage is a direct response to the persistent crisis of veteran mortality. The project draws inspiration from the 22-a-day awareness movement, while the Department of Veterans Affairs reported 6,398 veteran suicides in 2023 alone.
BAILOR’s involvement transformed the mission from a concept into a national campaign within weeks. CEO Sonya Bailor noted that her firm applied its proprietary growth strategies to stabilize the logistics and fundraising necessary to reach the starting line at Ditto Landing. With the flagship sponsorship secured, the organization is now soliciting additional corporate and individual backing. Supporters can monitor the journey via live GPS tracking or contribute to the mission’s Wall of Honor, with donation tiers starting at $22 to commemorate the daily loss of life among veterans. Those seeking immediate assistance can reach the Veterans Crisis Line by dialing 988 and pressing 1.
