STL Secures Final Legal Victory Against Fujikura in European Patent Case
The European Patent Office has delivered a definitive blow to Fujikura Ltd, issuing a final and non-appealable ruling that revokes the company's European Patent EP 3796060. The decision, handed down by the Technical Board of Appeal on June 24, effectively resolves the ongoing patent litigation between the two connectivity providers.

This legal outcome marks a significant win for STL, the India-based provider of AI-ready digital infrastructure. By invalidating the patent, the EPO has cleared the path for STL to expand its footprint in the UK and European optical connectivity markets. The decision underscores the company’s broader strategy of defending its intellectual property, which currently includes a portfolio of 785 patents across global markets.
Dr. Badri Gomatam, Group CTO at STL, framed the ruling as a validation of the firm’s research and development integrity. He noted that the company’s vertically integrated 'Glass to Data Center' approach remains central to its supply chain resilience. With manufacturing hubs spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, STL continues to leverage its IP defense to secure its position against competitors in the rapidly evolving infrastructure sector.
