Dr. George D. McSherry Named Pinnacle Professional of the Year
After four decades navigating the complexities of pediatric immunology, Dr. George D. McSherry has been named a Pinnacle Professional of the Year by The Inner Circle. The recognition highlights his career-long focus on treating life-threatening infections in vulnerable children across his practices in Lancaster and Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Dr. McSherry currently serves at Penn State Health Children’s Lancaster Pediatric Center and Penn State Health Pediatric Specialties. His clinical practice addresses a broad spectrum of challenging conditions, ranging from HIV and tuberculosis to antibiotic-resistant infections like Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. He frequently manages medically fragile newborns and children suffering from persistent fevers, complex pneumonia, and unexplained lymph node swelling.
Beyond his bedside care, Dr. McSherry has dedicated significant effort to medical education and mentorship, shaping the next generation of infectious disease specialists. A graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, he holds board certifications in both pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. His professional history includes active memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, alongside prior leadership roles within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
