Toni Schneider, a venture capitalist and former Automattic CEO, steps in as interim leader while the company initiates a search for a permanent successor. Schneider brings a history with the platform, having served as an advisor to both the company and Graber for over a year. Investors including True Ventures and Automattic remain committed to the project, signaling continuity for the decentralized social network.

Bluesky has experienced significant growth, expanding from 30 million users a year ago to 40 million today. Schneider emphasized that the company remains dedicated to its core mission: ensuring users retain ownership of their identity, data, and social graphs. He noted that the survival of open platforms relies on the trust of third-party builders, a priority he intends to maintain during his interim tenure. Graber’s move to the innovation office is intended to allow her to focus exclusively on the technical vision that defined the platform's early growth.
