Nopia synth set for commercial launch after viral prototype success
After igniting online interest with a 2023 reveal, the Nopia synthesizer is moving from prototype to production. Creators Martin Grieco and Rocío Gal confirmed the instrument will hit the market in the coming months, carrying a retail price of approximately £550 for those eager to tap into its unique harmonic workflow.

The device distinguishes itself by moving away from traditional keyboard-centric synthesis, functioning more like a specialized groovebox. Its interface centers on the Chord Builder, a one-octave keyboard paired with a 12-button Tonal Selector and an Extensions Dial. These components allow performers to navigate complex harmonic structures using minimal input, effectively enabling sophisticated chord voicings with only one or two fingers.
Beyond its core harmonic engine, Nopia incorporates a strum plate for precise note articulation and a dedicated slider for chord-wide pitch bends. The internal architecture balances virtual analog and sample-based engines, supported by onboard effects such as tape emulation, delay, reverb, and beat repeat. With comprehensive connectivity, including per-module MIDI output, the unit is designed to serve as a central controller for external hardware, leveraging its unconventional design to manipulate other instruments.
