Insilico Medicine and CMS Expand AI Drug Discovery Partnership
Three months after their initial agreement, Insilico Medicine and China Medical System Holdings have launched a new joint R&D program targeting central nervous system disorders. The partnership utilizes Insilico’s PandaOmics platform to identify novel mechanisms of action for mass-market therapeutic candidates, with potential milestone payments reaching 1.2 billion RMB.

The collaboration combines Insilico’s generative AI-driven discovery capabilities with the commercialization and clinical translation expertise of CMS. By integrating the PandaOmics platform, the companies aim to streamline the transition of experimental molecules from early-stage proof of concept to clinical development. This move marks a strategic expansion of their existing relationship, aiming to address unmet medical needs in the CNS space with greater speed and efficiency.
Feng Ren, Co-CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Insilico Medicine, noted that the commercial insight provided by the CMS team has been instrumental in refining the development of high-potential drug candidates. For CMS, the deal reinforces its focus on expanding its portfolio of innovative, first-in-class assets. Under the terms of the agreement, Insilico stands to gain up to 1.2 billion RMB in milestone payments, alongside future royalties, as the partners coordinate their efforts across the full pharmaceutical value chain.
