Delonix Bioworks Begins Chinese Phase 1 Trial for MenB Vaccine

Shanghai-based Delonix Bioworks has dosed the first participant in its Chinese Phase 1 clinical trial for DX-104, a next-generation vaccine targeting Group B meningococcal disease. This milestone follows the company’s ongoing Australian study, marking a strategic push to validate its proprietary OMV Plus platform across diverse global populations.

The randomized, double-blind study assesses the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine in healthy individuals ranging from 2 to 59 years old. By running concurrent trials in Australia and China, the company aims to build a comprehensive clinical dataset for a pathogen that currently lacks an approved vaccine in the Chinese market.

Dr. Qiubin Lin, founder and CEO of Delonix Bioworks, emphasized that the dual-country approach provides robust validation for the platform’s potential. Invasive meningococcal disease, particularly serogroup B, accounts for roughly half of all cases globally. With no localized vaccine currently available in China, the market potential for a successful candidate is projected to hit RMB 4.7 billion by 2035. DX-104 utilizes genetically engineered outer membrane vesicles to improve upon existing limitations in strain coverage and manufacturing complexity.
