Lineman Designs Tool to Simplify Powerline Wire Management
A Rockford, Alabama-based lineman has developed the Buck Tie Wire Roller, a patent-pending device designed to streamline the winding of tie wire used in powerline service. By replacing manual, inconsistent methods with a standardized mechanical process, the invention aims to reduce physical strain and operational time for repair crews.
The tool addresses the repetitive challenges faced by utility workers when securing conductors. Its design prioritizes ease of installation and operation, offering a practical alternative to current manual practices. By automating the tensioning and winding process, the roller provides a consistent output that benefits electric power companies and field technicians alike.
A working prototype is currently available to demonstrate the device's utility in the field. The invention was submitted through the Birmingham office of InventHelp and is now being presented for potential licensing or commercial manufacturing deals.
