The Jiamusi opening featured a gala where Hezhe ethnic intangible heritage fused with Russian folk traditions, signaling the city’s intent to leverage its proximity to Khabarovsk. Local officials confirmed that 19 distinct events are scheduled through September, ranging from creative markets and film screenings to specialized youth study tours and wetland excursions.

Beyond mere performances, the fair serves as a vehicle for Jiamusi to solidify its position as a central hub for border tourism. By integrating regional tourism promotion with cultural showcases, the city seeks to establish a permanent platform for exchange while advancing Heilongjiang's broader goal of expanding its northern gateway for international cooperation.
