Modera Wealth Management Recruits New CIO and COO
Westwood-based Modera Wealth Management has tapped two industry veterans to steer its next phase of growth, appointing Gaurav Mallik as Chief Investment Officer and Shelly Kapoor as Chief Operating Officer. The hires come as the $17.5 billion firm looks to bolster its investment strategies and internal technology infrastructure.

Gaurav Mallik, operating out of the firm’s Boston office, takes the helm of Modera’s investment strategy, portfolio allocation, and governance frameworks. He joins the RIA after serving as managing partner at Fiducia Advisors, LLC, where he specialized in integrating AI and technology into investment processes. Mallik brings nearly two decades of experience from State Street Global Advisors and a previous tenure as CIO at Pallas Capital. He succeeds George Padula, who remains with the firm through the end of 2026 to facilitate a transition before his retirement.
Shelly Kapoor joins the executive team in Westwood to manage business integrations and operational scaling. Her background includes a recent stint managing integrations at Coldstream and a long-term role as SVP of Operations at Ziff Brothers Investments, a private family office in New York. Kapoor replaces Harli Palme, who has moved to a new internal position as Director of Learning and Development. CEO Tom Orecchio stated that these appointments are intended to drive the firm's evolving investment offerings and technology platform while maintaining the high-touch service model that has defined the firm since 1983.
