Home Depot upgrades its viral 12-foot skeleton with voice tech
For $379, Home Depot’s signature 12-foot skeleton is getting a digital upgrade that allows homeowners to speak through the figure in real time. The updated model, which hits online shelves tomorrow, bridges the gap between static lawn decor and interactive animatronics to maintain its status as a seasonal retail phenomenon.
The latest iteration of the towering figure integrates technology previously debuted in the 6.5-foot Ultra Skelly, most notably the ability to sync the skeleton’s jaw movements with the user’s voice via a mobile app. Beyond real-time interaction, the new model features 20 distinct LCD eye animations—a significant jump from the eight options introduced two years ago—and the capacity to record up to 30 custom phrases.
Users can manage these features over Bluetooth, allowing for remote interaction with visitors. While the refreshed model arrives at a premium price point, Home Depot is maintaining the classic, non-interactive version of the 12-foot skeleton at its original $299 price. The new collection will appear in physical store locations later this summer.
