CellCarta Unites AI Innovators to Streamline Precision Diagnostics
Montreal-based CRO CellCarta has launched a global consortium of seven digital pathology and artificial intelligence firms, aiming to provide biopharmaceutical sponsors with a unified, platform-agnostic pathway for biomarker discovery and clinical trial execution across oncology, neurology, and autoimmune disease research.
The initiative integrates CellCarta’s existing histopathology, genomics, and proteomics infrastructure with the specialized technical capabilities of Lunit, Mindpeak, Imagene AI, Dipath AI, Nucleai, Tivenix, and Indica Labs. By positioning itself as a central laboratory partner, the company seeks to move beyond fragmented, single-vendor AI solutions, offering instead a modular ecosystem that allows sponsors to validate and deploy technologies tailored to specific drug development programs.
Christopher Ung, Chief Scientific Business Officer at CellCarta, emphasized that the goal is to provide a scientifically credible framework that avoids the "black box" pitfalls often associated with rapid AI adoption. The consortium is designed to remain non-exclusive, allowing for future expansion as new diagnostic technologies mature and clinical requirements evolve. This approach provides sponsors with a structured environment to translate exploratory AI signals into trial-ready evidence, while maintaining full regulatory oversight across international clinical operations.
