POLYTECH Marks 40th Anniversary with Updated Microthane Manufacturing
Marking four decades of medical manufacturing, Dieburg-based POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics has launched a proprietary update to its Microthane breast implant production process. The refinement, formalized in a June 2026 European patent application, aims to enhance the structural consistency of implants used in aesthetic and reconstructive surgical procedures.
The updated manufacturing technique eliminates posterior patches and smooths implant edges, aiming to provide surgeons with a more refined tool for body contouring. According to CEO Prof. Dr. Karsten Hemmrich, the shift underscores the company’s long-term investment in polyurethane technology and its commitment to evolving product standards alongside clinical practice.
POLYTECH has initiated a phased rollout of the updated implants across select global markets, with further availability contingent on local regulatory requirements and production capacity.
