Standard Wellness Shifts Ohio Retail Footprint to Cleveland

Standard Wellness is recalibrating its Ohio retail presence, announcing plans to open its first dispensary in its hometown of Cleveland. The company will acquire a license from License in the Flats, LLC, while simultaneously offloading two existing locations in Sandusky and Springfield to Greenlight, pending regulatory approval.

The move marks a strategic pivot for the multi-state operator, which aims to concentrate its resources within its home base. By divesting the Sandusky and Springfield sites, Standard Wellness ensures it remains within the state’s limit of eight dispensary licenses per operator. The company’s vice president of retail, Kate Ols, stated that the transition is intended to position the firm for long-term growth while maintaining service continuity for customers in the exiting markets.

Both the Sandusky and Springfield locations carry historical weight in the regional cannabis market. Sandusky hosted Ohio’s first legal cannabis sale in 2019, while Springfield was a key player in the state’s inaugural industry merger. The transition to Greenlight will be managed alongside the acquisition of the Cleveland license, with legal counsel provided by Tom Haren of Frantz Ward and financial advisory services handled by SSC Advisors. Gramercy Capital Group managed the financing for the deal, which remains subject to final oversight by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control.
