Rivertown Toyota Rebrands to Group 1 Toyota Rivertown

Rivertown Toyota has officially adopted the name of its parent company, Group 1 Automotive, marking a shift to a unified national branding strategy. Despite the name change, which took effect in late 2025, the dealership maintains its local leadership, staff, and operations in Columbus, Georgia, serving the broader Chattahoochee Valley region.

The transition to Group 1 Toyota Rivertown is part of a broader initiative by the Houston-based retailer to standardize the names of its 251 dealerships across the United States and the United Kingdom. While the signage and branding reflect this international affiliation, the dealership’s daily functions remain anchored in the local community. General Manager Shelby Holley emphasized that the change is primarily aesthetic, noting that the team and the standard of care for drivers in Columbus, Phenix City, and Opelika remain unchanged.

The dealership continues to operate from its established location at 1661A Whittlesey Road. By aligning with the Group 1 brand, the store gains a more visible connection to the company’s extensive network of 37 vehicle brands and its broader omni-channel platform. Customers will continue to work with the same local professionals for sales, service, and parts, as the ownership and staffing structure were not impacted by the rebrand.
