BRIJ Medical Debuts BRIJ-SEAL Wound Sealant to Curb Infection Risks

Marietta-based BRIJ Medical has launched BRIJ-SEAL, a new surgical wound sealant designed to provide a 14-day bacterial barrier for post-operative incisions. By utilizing the same hypoallergenic adhesive technology found in its Brijjit device, the company aims to offer surgeons a faster, non-cyanoacrylate alternative to traditional topical skin adhesives.

The product addresses persistent clinical demands for wound protection that remains both breathable and waterproof. Unlike standard dressings, BRIJ-SEAL allows moisture vapor to escape while enabling patients to shower shortly after surgery. The sealant is engineered to conform to natural body movement, reinforcing the incision site without the skin irritation often associated with traditional cyanoacrylate glues.

CEO Tim Gleeson stated that the tool was developed specifically to integrate into existing surgical workflows without adding complexity. Surgeons can deploy the sealant as a standalone protective layer or combine it with the company’s Brijjit device for active tension offloading. This dual approach aims to minimize scarring and reduce the likelihood of wound breakdown, building on clinical data that previously demonstrated success in breast surgery applications across the United States and Canada.
