Netflix reveals generative AI use in 300 titles
Roughly 300 titles currently streaming on Netflix incorporate generative AI, a shift the company credits with accelerating post-production workflows while slashing budgets. The streaming giant disclosed this widespread adoption in its second-quarter earnings report, signaling a deepening commitment to automated tools for complex visual effects and worldbuilding sequences.

The platform is deploying these technologies to craft intricate imagery that previously sat beyond the reach of production schedules or financial constraints. In the docuseries The American Experiment, for instance, 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage were generated at half the cost and double the speed of traditional methods. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos noted that many of these sequences, such as enhanced crowds or historical battle recreations, would have been excised from the final cut entirely without the efficiency gains provided by AI. Other titles utilizing the tech include Glory and Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri.
Beyond visual effects, Netflix is aggressively integrating AI into its broader infrastructure. Recent strategic moves include the acquisition of Ben Affleck’s AI startup and the launch of a dedicated AI animation studio. The platform is also experimenting with synthetic audio, recently featuring an AI-generated voice of Gene Wilder in the reality show Wonka’s The Golden Ticket. These investments represent a calculated push to scale content output while tightening operational overhead.
