Shinsung Materials Patents Advanced UV Filter Stabilization
South Korean manufacturer Shinsung Materials has secured a patent for the purification and stabilization of Ecamsule, a high-performance UV-A filter. By refining Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid into a high-purity powder, the company is addressing long-standing formulation challenges that previously hindered the ingredient's broader use in global sun care products.
The patented process, designated under Korean Patent No. 10-1937332, utilizes tromethamine as a core neutralizing agent. This technical shift allows manufacturers to incorporate the water-soluble filter into diverse formats, including sun serums and hybrid skincare, while maintaining photostability. According to company representatives, the resulting ingredient meets USP 44 standards, providing a significant localized alternative to previous industry-exclusive supply chains held by major global conglomerates.
Beyond UV protection, the firm is expanding its clean beauty portfolio with COSMOS-certified oil thickeners like Dextrin Palmitate and Stearoyl Inulin. These additives offer superior gel strength and clarity compared to traditional market alternatives. Shinsung Materials is further capitalizing on the demand for sustainable formulations by scaling its production of diol-based preservatives, including 1,2-Hexanediol and Ethylhexylglycerin. These developments position the company as a key supplier for brands seeking to meet rigorous international quality benchmarks while localizing their ingredient sourcing.
