Detpak Launches Spartanburg Plant to Bolster U.S. Supply Chain
A steady hum of machinery is replacing silence in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as Australian packaging giant Detpak prepares its new 175,000-square-foot facility for full-scale production. The plant, which represents a multi-million-dollar investment, signals a shift from importing goods to localized manufacturing for the company’s North American QSR partners.
The site is currently in the final stages of equipment commissioning, with operations scheduled to scale up in August. This expansion marks a pivot for the Detmold Group subsidiary, which has served the U.S. market for over two decades through its international supply network. By moving production closer to major brands like McDonald's, KFC, and Starbucks, the company aims to slash lead times and provide greater flexibility for its domestic clients. CEO Sascha Detmold Cox noted that the facility acts as a milestone for the family-owned firm, which operates in 45 countries but is only now establishing a physical manufacturing footprint on American soil. The Spartanburg site will initially employ more than 50 local workers, integrating the company’s global paper-based packaging expertise directly into the South Carolina industrial landscape.
