HunterLab Expands Spectral Range with Vista L2 Spectrophotometer
Extending its spectral reach to 710 nm, HunterLab has unveiled the Vista L2, a transmission color and haze spectrophotometer designed for transparent and translucent materials. The update integrates advanced Essentials L2 software and increased processing power, aiming to streamline quality control workflows in pharmaceutical and chemical production.

The expanded 710 nm range allows manufacturers to better distinguish between true color absorbance and light scattering haze. This technical adjustment provides critical utility for edible oil producers, enabling precise chlorophyll measurements at 630, 670, and 710 nm in alignment with AOCS Cc 13d-55 standards to track product oxidation and shelf life.
"Quality teams are being asked to measure more, on tighter timelines, without adding instruments or headcount," said Bob Weaver, President at HunterLab. The device maintains compatibility with existing methods and accessories, ensuring that the transition to the new hardware does not disrupt established laboratory protocols.
Beyond the spectral upgrade, the system features 32 GB of onboard storage capable of holding millions of measurements and an HDMI output for external display integration. By applying the Beer-Lambert Law to standard cells and vials, the Vista L2 reduces the necessity for expensive, specialized glassware. The unit supports various sample types—including plastic preforms, films, and liquids—through a series of magnetic, interchangeable holders and base plates designed for repeatable positioning.
