CLO Virtual Fashion Launches AI-Powered Fabric Digitization Kit
CLO Virtual Fashion has launched the zFab Kit, an AI-driven hardware and software solution designed to digitize fabric samples globally. Departing from its traditional software-bound ecosystem, the company is offering this technology as a standalone tool that does not require a CLO license, targeting fabric mills and supply chain vendors.
The kit integrates three specialized hardware components—the zFab Cutter, Scanner, and Draper—with proprietary AI trained on extensive fabric datasets. By processing a single circular sample, the system generates high-fidelity digital materials complete with PBR maps and physical property data. This workflow replaces manual measurement processes, aiming to eliminate the inconsistencies and high costs often associated with specialist digitization workflows.
According to Justin Kim, who oversees 3D Design & Implementation at CLO, the initiative addresses long-standing industry frustrations regarding slow, inaccessible technology. By moving the processing power to the web via CLO-SET, the company intends to democratize access to digital fabric creation. Beyond design teams, the kit is marketed toward sourcing teams and material libraries to reduce the reliance on physical sample shipments and accelerate approval cycles. The system outputs files compatible with CLO’s platform while maintaining export capabilities for other 3D environments.
