The autoSCORE algorithm relies on a deep-learning model trained on 30,000 expertly labeled EEG recordings to assist neurologists with interpretation. By moving beyond traditional spike and seizure detection, the tool provides study-level assessments that categorize EEG results as normal or abnormal. This integration aims to reduce the manual workload for clinical staff while maintaining high standards of diagnostic rigor.

Cristiano Rizzo, general manager for Natus in EMEA and APAC, noted that the tool is designed to augment expertise without replacing the clinician, helping to streamline workflows in high-volume environments. Professor Oriano Mecarelli of Sapienza University of Rome compared the shift to the historical transition from analog to digital EEG, suggesting that such automation is essential for managing increasingly complex neurodiagnostic cases.
