Sumsub Pivots to AI Trust Infrastructure to Consolidate Compliance
London-based verification firm Sumsub is shifting its business model to provide an integrated AI-powered trust infrastructure for its 4,000 global clients. The platform aims to replace fragmented compliance workflows—which currently force companies to juggle up to nine separate tools—with a unified system for risk and identity management.

The transition marks a departure from traditional point-based fraud prevention. Currently, businesses expanding into new jurisdictions often face six-month delays and ballooning operational costs as they stitch together disparate services for AML screening, identity verification, and risk scoring. Sumsub’s new architecture attempts to solve this by consolidating case management, regulatory reporting, and AI-driven risk profiling into a single layer.
According to Peter Sever, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, the nature of digital risk has shifted from a one-time onboarding hurdle to a continuous requirement. By automating the orchestration of these processes, the firm aims to minimize human error and accelerate market entry for sectors ranging from crypto to iGaming. The company cites a 272% return on investment over three years as evidence that centralizing these compliance operations drives efficiency.
