TalentLMS Shifts Corporate Training Focus from Completion to Capability
At the 2026 Training Industry Conference & Expo, TalentLMS challenged the industry standard of measuring success through course completions. Instead, the company urged organizations to pivot toward capability engineering, using AI to drive measurable business impact rather than relying on fragmented experiments that fail to address fundamental organizational needs.

Nick Gonios, VP of Learning Transformation at TalentLMS, argued that businesses often treat AI as a quick fix for flawed content or broken cultures. During his keynote, he contended that AI reaches its peak value when it handles administrative and analytical burdens, allowing learning professionals to focus on human-centric tasks like building trust and designing growth experiences. According to Gonios, the goal is to stop acting as a distributor of content and start functioning as an engineer of evolution.
This shift in strategy was echoed by industry practitioners during a fireside chat at the event. Randy Schumacher, formerly of 42 North Dental, and Tiara Searcy from Atlas Roofing Corporation shared how they moved their departments away from a traditional checkbox culture. They emphasized that modern L&D must align directly with executive pain points, such as sales performance and employee engagement, to prove its strategic worth. For these organizations, the transition represents a move away from measuring login rates toward verifying that training directly facilitates business goals.
