Glorious GHS InfinitePlay: A headset that never goes dark

Most gaming headsets force a disconnect when batteries run dry, but the new $229.99 Glorious GHS InfinitePlay changes the math. By integrating a small internal fallback battery, the device allows for instant, hot-swappable power changes without dropping the audio signal or forcing a reboot during a critical session.

The InfinitePlay improves upon the swappable battery systems popularized by rivals like SteelSeries. While competitors typically cut power the moment a battery is pulled, the Glorious headset maintains a continuous connection for up to three hours on its internal reserve. The physical design is equally refined; the batteries slide into the right earpiece like a game cartridge, featuring a grippy edge that makes them easy to swap by feel alone. With each of the two included packs rated for 85 hours of life, the risk of running out of power is virtually non-existent for most users.

Beyond power management, the headset features dual metal control knobs for volume and game-chat mixing, providing a tactile experience that feels sturdy and precise. While sound quality is competitive for the price—offering a balanced soundstage and clear bass—the build prioritizes comfort, utilizing a bungee-style headband that accommodates glasses wearers without pinching. The system is highly versatile, supporting seamless switching between PC, PlayStation 5, and Steam Deck via a 2.4GHz USB-C transmitter.

Not every feature hits the mark, however. The headset lacks active noise cancellation, and the integrated microphone is underwhelming compared to the detachable boom mic included in the box. Additionally, the companion software is strictly functional, lacking the convenience of a browser-based interface. Despite these minor omissions, the InfinitePlay stands out in a crowded market by solving the most persistent annoyance in wireless gaming: the need to stop playing to recharge.
