Autonomous AI Outperforms Betting Markets in 2026 World Cup Forecast
While betting giants like Kalshi and Polymarket pegged France as the heavy favorite to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a model built entirely by an autonomous AI agent stood its ground. By the time Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in Sunday’s final, the Impulse AI agent had proven its predictive edge.

The Impulse AI model ranked Spain as the top contender before the tournament began, maintaining that position throughout the competition. While human-driven betting markets hovered around a 33% probability for France, the agent kept France near 19%. The accuracy of this assessment was confirmed in the semifinals when Spain eliminated the French team. Of the model’s pre-tournament top five picks—Spain, France, England, Brazil, and Argentina—four advanced to the semifinals.
Eshan Chordia, founder and CEO of Impulse AI, emphasized that the model required no manual intervention from machine learning engineers. The team simply uploaded three public datasets and provided a prompt; the agent handled the feature engineering, model selection, and 40,000 tournament simulations. Chordia noted that every prediction was recorded publicly before the matches occurred, leaving no room for after-the-fact adjustments. This performance mirrors the agent’s earlier success in the 2026 NBA playoffs, where it correctly identified the postseason’s three largest upsets. The company positions this capability as a blueprint for enterprise applications, suggesting that businesses can leverage the same workflow to predict churn, fraud, or demand without writing a single line of code.
